An honest comparison

Officium Mentalevs DIY journaling and worksheets.

A notebook is free and private, and printable worksheets are everywhere. Here is where that works, where it tends to stall, and what the course adds — so you can decide whether you need it.

Where a notebook and a worksheet work well

They cost nothing, nobody sees them, and you can start tonight. For a lot of people a plain notebook is enough, and a well-made thought record or feelings worksheet gives the page some shape.

If you already write regularly, keep a structure you trust, and bring what you notice to your appointments, you may not need anything else. We would rather say that plainly than sell you a course you don't need.

Where it tends to stall

The blank page. Most people write the story of what happened — who did what, why it was unfair — and the event itself (what you actually saw and heard before your mind explained it) never gets separated out.

Nothing asks the next question. A worksheet is filled in once and filed. There is no sequence that builds from noticing an experience to tracing where the interpretation came from to choosing a response.

The notes stay in the notebook. The question you most needed to ask your provider rarely makes it from the page to the appointment.

What the course adds

The same three questions every time — Notice · Explore · Connect — so you are never facing a blank page. Notice what actually happened. Explore what your mind added. Connect the pattern to one question you could bring to a provider or someone you trust.

Twenty lessons in order, narrated by Professor Mentale, moving through ten stages from Observe to Become. Each one ends with a reflection that saves to your account instead of a drawer.

A Provider Conversation Sheet: your Connect questions, numbered, on one page, ready for the appointment. Certificates for each finished module and for the whole course.

What it costs next to free

The Introduction and Lesson 1 are free with no account — and Lesson 1 teaches the three questions, so the structure itself costs nothing. After that a lesson is $7, a four-lesson module is $19, and all 20 lessons are $47, paid once. If a lesson is not for you, tell us within 30 days and we will refund it.

Questions

Can I just use a notebook?
Yes. Lesson 1 is free and teaches the three questions — Notice, Explore, Connect — and you can run them in any notebook. The paid lessons add the sequence, the narration, saved reflections, the Provider Conversation Sheet and certificates.
Is this a thought record or a CBT worksheet?
No. Those are clinical tools used in treatment. This is behavioral-health education: a structured way of questioning your own reactions. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace care from a licensed provider.
Do I need the paid lessons to get the structure?
No. The structure is taught in the free Introduction and Lesson 1. The paid lessons are the next nineteen investigations, in order, with everything saved to your account.
